At Walter Reed Army Medical Center the Armed Forces Families Foundation contributed $19,000 to renovate and redesign "Family Waiting Areas" where families are able to rest while wounded warriors are in surgery. The project focused on comfort and design. As part of the project, computers were installed so families could keep in touch with those not able to be there.
The AFFF also helped to remodel the Teen Room, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Clinic Waiting Area and Surgical Nurses Area. The project was completed in August 2008.
