Two Recreation and Family Care Facilities - Coast Guard Training Center

Yorktown, VA

On July 27, the Coast Guard, United Service Organizations and the Armed Forces Families Foundation unveiled two new recreation and family care facilities at Coast Guard Training Center Yorktown. The historic grand opening welcomed the second USO Center built on a Coast Guard base and the first-ever state-of-the-art nursing facility for mothers on a U.S. military base. Over $35,000 in funding was donated by AFFF to fully equip the facilities with furnishings and equipment, including flat screen televisions, videogames, and more. The funds donated were raised within the surrounding communities through AFFF’s ongoing partnership with Taco Bell and IHOP restaurants. At the grand opening ceremony students and officers stationed at TRACEN Yorktown gathered to explore and enjoy the well-deserved new additions.
