Virginia USO Centers Computer Upgrades

Hampton Roads and Central Virginia USO Centers

Norfolk, VA – September 17, 2013

The Armed Forces Families Foundation funded a $28,000 replacement of a total of fifty computers and technological accessories in the USO Centers of Hampton Roads and Central Virginia including: NAVSTA Norfolk AMC Terminal, Huntington Hall, Ft. Eustis, Langley AFB, Ft. Lee, Little Creek, NAVSTA Norfolk NMPS, Newport News/Williamsburg Airport, Norfolk International Airport, and Richmond International Airport.

While the computers had been the most utilized component of the USO Centers, the majority of the computers had either become outdated and worn out and without the ability to use a web camera, or were no longer functional at all. These updated computers allow servicemembers to access email, Skype, and permit family members the ability to contact their loved ones overseas, in addition to performing tasks that will add to the quality of life of our servicemembers. A ribbon cutting event for this project was held on September 17, 2013.
