AFFF donates $31K for new pavilion at Asheville VA hospital
Charles George Veterans Affairs Medical Center
Asheville, N.C. – May 12, 2017
The Armed Forces Families Foundation, a charity organization helping military families in the southeast U.S., unveiled a new picnic pavilion during a ribbon cutting ceremony at Charles George Veterans Affairs Medical Center on Friday.
The pavilion will be used by the VA to support cookouts and other recreation activities for their residents, hospitalized veterans, outpatient programs and their families.
AFFF donated a total of $31,978 for the supplies and construction of the 680 square-foot outdoor structure. The funds donated by AFFF were raised within the Asheville community in conjunction with local Taco Bell restaurants.
“We are so proud to provide this new facility to Charles George VA Medical Center, our nation’s veterans and their families,” said John Wright, a member of the board at AFFF. “What makes this pavilion truly special is that it was funded by donations from the Asheville community.”
