$8.9k Donation to help RDU USO Center Children’s Center reach new heights
USO of North Carolina
Raleigh, N.C. – COMING SOON
The Armed Forces Families Foundation has further demonstrated its commitment to serving military service members and their families with the donation of $8,941.14 to the USO of North Carolina for upgrades at the organization’s RDU Center in Raleigh, which serves over 4,000 visitors per month.
A portion of the grant would allow for cosmetic and equipment upgrades to the children’s play area and located in the RDU Airport Center, which is reserved for service members with small children. While the carpet was replaced in 2018, the Children’s play area has not seen an update since the center opened in 2011. A portion of the funds will be used to purchase and install much needed equipment, including a new kid’s rocker, mats, train table top, storage cabinets, books and more.
In addition to the play area, funds will be used to purchase supplies for special events, like the RDU USO’s Out of Center Family Day. Items will include mobile unit tv’s, outdoor games, climbing stones, parachutes and face paint supplies.
In support of the USO of NC’s commitment to promoting reading while fostering connections between service members and their families, a significant portion of the funds donated by AFFF will be used to enable a variety of children’s reading programs offered at the RDU center.
