ATLANTA, GA. – Nov. 15, 2017
Over Veterans Day Weekend, Joseph & Sarah Caring for Veterans, a transitional home for homeless veterans in the Atlanta-area, welcomed more than 50 volunteers and a truckload of new furniture provided by the Armed Forces Families Foundation. AFFF donated a total of $6,500 to refurnish each bedroom of the home, including six dressers, mirrors, nightstands, headboards, mattresses and box springs. Over the weekend, volunteers went to work cleaning, painting, installing decor and landscaping the grounds of the facility
Joseph & Sarah’s transitional home opened its doors in June 2012 and has since provided housing for homeless veterans. The facility is staffed with volunteer case managers to assist residents with finding employment, as well as, giving support, counseling and encouragement as they transition back into permanent housing. At the time of its opening, the facility was furnished with donated used items, which had become worn over years of continued use.
“For the veterans of JSCV this will be a Veterans Day that won’t soon be forgotten. Because of the generosity of the Armed Forces Families Foundation and the hearts and sweat of over 50 volunteers, we were able to receive all new furniture for every room in our program,” said a representative from Joseph & Sarah Caring for Veterans. “We are truly thankful for what the Armed Forces Families Foundation has done for the morale of the veterans in our program. Thank you.”
