Family/Business Center Remodel & Redesign
James A. Haley VA Hospital
Tampa, FL – December 15, 2011
At James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital in Tampa, FL the Armed Forces Families Foundation contributed over $59,000 to remodel and redesign two existing areas to create family / business centers in the Brain Trauma wing of the Medical Center, for the benefit of active and veteran service members and their families. This facility is the busiest of four poly-trauma facilities in the country, with services available to over 116,000 veterans living in the area. The first room, the Internet Café & Business Center project, was furnished with 10 computers and monitors, workstations, flat-mounted televisions and café area, including specialized handicap-accessible furniture. The second room, the Family Room and Business Center project, featured the same amenities on a smaller scale, due to size constraints. Both of these rooms provide service members and their families with a comfortable space to relax, while allowing them to stay in touch with both work and family as needed, given that some families may remain at the Hospital for several months at a time. These projects were completed in December 2011.
